| CHERISHED ARTIFACTS FROM THE GREEK ORTHODOX TRADITION
Spiliotis Wedding Gown Donated to the Peabody Historical Society Cynthia Peters of Peabody recently donated the wedding gown worn by her mother Isabelle Spiliotis Koulas, at her wedding to Theodore Koulas. The ceremony took place on December 15, 1943 at Saint Vasilio's Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, and the reception followed at Pansamion Hall. Isabelle Koulas lived her entire life on Forest Street in Peabody. The couple had four children, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Isabelle was a member of the Eastern Star and volunteered as a Girl Scout troupe leader. Cynthia Peters's gift also includes the crowns, or stefina, worn by the bride and groom in traditional orthodox ceremonies, as well as her mother's veil and a photograph of the couple on their wedding day. | | Wedding Gown of Isabelle Spiliotis Koulas Gift of her daughter, Cynthia Peters |
